MORRIS – The County Clerk’s Office will be offering a temporary waiver of the fees for vital records and homeowner land records for those residents affected by Sunday’s tornado.

Storm victims can apply for a replacement of their Grundy County vital records at the clerk’s office, according to a news release from Grundy County Clerk and Recorder Lana Phillips.

Residents who have lost records because of the disaster may obtain a free certified replacement copy of birth, marriage or death certificates at the Clerk’s Office, in Room 12 of the county courthouse, 111 E. Washington St., Morris.

Replacement copies of recent deeds of record can be obtained from the Recorders Office in Room 11 of the courthouse.

Those asking for the records need to bring photo identification or other documents that demonstrate a home address.

The waiver will remain in effect through January 2014. Call 815-941-3222 for more information.
