Coal City show choir featured at Chicago festival

COAL CITY – Coal City High School show choir “Footnotes” was featured on national television when it sang Nov. 23 at the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival in Chicago.

The group led the event’s tree-lighting parade, which traveled south down Michigan Avenue to Wacker Drive and was showcased again during the finale of the parade.

The festival was hosted by celebrity Mario Lopez and child stars Grace Phipps of the Disney Channel and Laura Marano of the Disney Channel, and pop-singer and actress Debbie Gibson made appearances.

The event was broadcast live on ABC 7 Chicago and will be rebroadcast across the country throughout the holiday season.

To be considered for the event, Coal City High School’s director Bonnie McDowell sent two DVDs of “Footnotes” performances, a “Footnotes” resume and group pictures to Under The Sun Productions.

Sixty-two vocal and dance groups applied to perform on live television at the festival. “Footnotes,” two adult choirs and one dance troupe were the only performers chosen for the evening.

“Footnotes” made its first television debut six years ago for the FOX morning news.

“Footnotes” members include Kristen Pearcy, Becca Stiles, Olivia Jakubowski, Hannah Horn, Haley Blazekovich, Karley Fontana, Hannah Batuzich, Leah Barrett, Breena Brncich, Lane Payton, Tori Knutson, Hope Connelly, Taylor Harrington, Rachel Drauden, Ashlyn Hanson, Sarah Frick, Jackie McCollough, Liz Elberts, Dani Kuchar, Antigona Shabani, Emma Washburn, Hannah Zickefoose, Brittany Freelon, Lauren Kmetz, Juan Munoz, Taylor Cirrencione, Carlos Shoemaker, Cody Minnick, Trent Sula, Wyatt Onsen, Alex Divis, Kevin Soto, Jeremy Anderson, Josh Lacy, Joe Giordano, Uxmar Torres, Daniel Jeschke, Jake Sebastian, Michael Steffes, Stephanie Chervany and Tyler Rodgers.
