Diamond tree-lighting ceremony set for Sunday
DIAMOND – The Village of Diamond will host a tree-lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Route 113 and Berta Road. Parking will be available at Ace Hardware.
The village will receive a tree from Kari Bellman of Limestone, who indicated that a 24-inch evergreen tree was uprooted from her property and she wanted to donate it. Centrue Bank will sponsor and host the tree.
South Wilmington to hold tree-lighting event
SOUTH WILMINGTON – South Wilmington’s Party in the Park Committee is having its first tree-lighting event at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the V.F.W. Park.
Attendees can sign their name on an ornament and hang it on the tree, sing Christmas songs, or stop in to see the live nativity.
Fire department to hold pancake breakfast
MINOOKA – The Minooka Fire Department will hold its annual pancake breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Station 1, 7901 Minooka Road.
Adult tickets are $5 and kids are $2 for all you can eat. Raffles for the kids included.
Santa’s Skating Party at Channahon Park District
CHANNAHON – Join Santa and his elves at Skateland Recreation Center to celebrate the holidays from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The preregistration fee for the event is $6 for residents and $7 for nonresidents, or $8 at the door.
Skateland Recreation Center is located at 25334 West Eames St., in Channahon.
Dwight Women’s Club to host house walk Sunday
DWIGHT – Attend the Dwight Woman’s Club Christmas Housewalk, from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Five homes decorated for the holiday will be featured.
Tickets are $10 and includes admission to all homes, refreshments at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a chance to win $100 in the cash drawing.
Housewalk tickets are available in Dwight at Emling Florist, Berta’s Hardware, Coco’s Sweet Shop, from Dwight Woman’s Club members and at each house on the walk.

Morris library to host vintage craft night Tuesday
MORRIS – The Morris Area Public Library, 604 Liberty St., is accentuating the holiday season with a ribbon bows vintage craft night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Registration is required, as this free craft has limited spaces.
The ribbon bows craft also is the final installment in the Morris library’s Vintage Craft Series, which was part of the library’s centennial celebration.
Culver’s to hold tornado relief fundraiser
MORRIS – The Culver’s in Morris will be one of 74 Culver’s restaurants taking part in a fundraiser Dec. 11 to benefit those affected by the Nov. 17 tornadoes. Those 74 restaurants will donate 10 percent of sales to the American Red Cross to help communities recently affected by tornadoes and severe storms. Those who can’t attend Dec. 11 can make a donation by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
