MINOOKA – In recent months Minooka Community High School District and the community have been impacted by cancer.
As a result, the National Honor Society will be hosting its second Mini Relay for Life event from noon to 11 p.m. Sunday at Central Campus to help support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Grundy County.
Last year, the school raised $13,000 and the goal this year is to raise $15,000. A percentage of the money raised remains in Grundy County helping community members fight their battle against cancer.
At noon, the relay will begin with the caregiver and survivor walk.
At 8 p.m. the luminaria ceremony will be in the cafeteria, and at 10 p.m. a Star Wars themed lap will occur in memory of Mr. Assaf.
There will be other themed laps including Twister, Teens in Tiaras Beauty Pageant and an ’80s dance-off.
