The Morris girls bowling team won a Northern Illinois Big 12 meet on Monday as the Redskins knocked off LaSalle-Peru by a count of 3,264-2,618.
“Coming off a third-place finish at the Sycamore tournament, the girls bowled well enough to get the win,” Morris coach Harry Banks said.
Morris was led by junior Jessica Winter as she rolled a 595 series (209, 215, 171) and Savannah Strange added a 587 (190, 206, 191).
“Jessica and Savannah both bowled very consistently,” Banks said.
Morris is now 5-1 on the season in the NIB12.
In JV action, Morris won 2,266-2,191 with Sarah Wise totaling a 432.
Maranda Residori had 15 points and Emily Foley had 14 in the River Valley Conference loss.
Alyson Wiemken had 16 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort by the Trojans.
Rachel Dawson chipped in with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Coal City 36,
Makenna Emerson had 14 points and seven assists for the Coalers while Abby Washburn added eight points and five rebounds in the win.
Joliet Hufford 38
Tyler Spiezio had 23 points in the win and Brennan Goff added 11 for the Hawks.
In the seventh-grade game, Saratoga beat Hufford, 35-34, with Jacob Overbeck scoring 16 and Patrick McCabe had 10 for the winners.
