MORRIS – Popular downtown Morris boutique, Ruby Begonia’s, will be taken over by new owners next month.

Monica Spence Vogel, founder of Ruby Begonia’s, announced in a news release that Feb. 1 brings new owners to the boutique at 114 W. Washington St. in Morris.

New owners Sheila Pearcy and Jessica Bradley share years of retail expertise between the two of them, according to the news release. A familiar face, Pearcy has been with Ruby Begonia’s for the past seven years, and has assisted with everything from sales and customer service, to buying and visual merchandising. Bradley has a diverse background with six years of retail management and seven years of nonprofit and small business management.

The boutique opened in 1999 as a garden and antique store, but since then Ruby Begonia’s has evolved into a shop featuring one-of-a-kinds, home decor, boutique clothing labels, women’s accessories and unique must-haves. Selected as the 2003 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the highlight of Spence Vogel’s tenure as owner came when the shop was featured in the May 2010 issue of Romantic Homes magazine, and was photographed for an upcoming feature in Midwest Living magazine.

As co-organizer of the 3 French Hens French Country Market, Spence Vogel said in a news release she plans on devoting more time to the market that continues to grow every year. She plans to continue to increase the number of vendors and the variety of goods offered.

Spence Vogel thanks the community of Morris, and the shoppers that continue to support all small business owners. She adds a special “Thank you” to the “Ruby Girls,” for helping make Ruby Begonia’s a success: Janice Hibler, Julie Gerber, Pearcy and Lorie Birch.

She encourages everyone to stop by Ruby Begonia’s, and welcome the new kids on the block. Pearcy and Bradley plan to maintain the same high quality and variety of merchandise, while adding additional clothing lines and other surprises.

Both women are thrilled to be a part of the vibrant downtown area, and are looking forward to participating in the upcoming special events that are so popular with Morris shoppers. The pair recently attended the Atlanta Gift and Apparel Market, and Spring selections are arriving daily.
