MINOOKA – A tractor trailer rolled over and shut down westbound Interstate 80 Tuesday morning.
State Police Master Sgt. Fred Rivera said the crash happened at 7:49 a.m. just east of Ridge Road.
“We believe weather was a factor,” Rivera said. “Several other vehicles went into ditches in that area, so it looks like there was a slick spot on the roadway.”
No one was injured. An ambulance was called for the truck driver, but he did not require medical treatment after being extricated from the truck by firefighters.
Rivera said both westbound lanes were shut down for a half-hour after the crash.
The entire roadway was reopened by about 10:30 a.m., according to a news release from Illinois State Police.
The accident was the only major incident on area roads and highways during the wintry conditions Tuesday morning.
