MORRIS – The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announced it will be awarding more than 106 college scholarships throughout the state to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2014-15 academic year.
The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books, and fees only and the student must be enrolled at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan will be awarding one $500 scholarship to a Grundy County student.
The requirements are that applicants must be permanent Illinois residents, scholarships must be utilized at institutions of higher learning within Illinois and students must be enrolled as a full-time during the 2014-15 school year.
Applications are now available at the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office or at www.ilsheriff.org. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question, and return all documents in the application packet to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 111 E. Illinois Ave. in Morris by March 15. For an application to be considered, it must be postmarked no later than that date.
