Local residents have stepped into new roles on the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Board of Trustees.

Channahon resident Sue Stanish was elected to the IMRF last year and took her seat on the board during the Dec. 20 meeting. Plainfield resident John Piechocinski was elected vice president by board members during the meeting.

Stanish, the director of finance of the Naperville Park District, started her first 5-year term on the board as an executive trustee.

“I think it’s a very important position,” Stanish said. “I’m honored to be a part of a professional board.”

Stanish has worked in municipal finance with the village of Willowbrook, city of Naperville and KPMG Peat Marwick. She is a member of several professional government finance organizations, and has served on the board of the Illinois Metropolitan Investment Fund.

“I definitely want to contribute to the longterm viability and sustainability of the fund,” Stanish said. “Also, I don’t think they have had a park district member for a long time. It’s nice I can bring that perspective to the board.”

Piechocinski, a head custodian for Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, became the new vice president of the board after serving as secretary last year and an employee trustee since 2011.

Piechocinski is the head custodian at Timber Ridge Middle School and president of the Plainfield Association of Support Staff. He has spent 36 years with the school district.
