Coal City High School to perform 'Shrek the Musical'

COAL CITY – Coal City High School is bringing your favorite ogre to the stage with the upcoming production of “Shrek the Musical.”

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a “short” temper, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero ... his name is Shrek!

Full of all-new songs, great dancing and scenery, “Shrek the Musical” is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and fun for everyone in the whole family, according to a news release from the school.

Performances will be at Coal City High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. March 14; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 15; and at 2 p.m. March 16 and admission is $5.
