Baldridge, Minnick capture state wrestling champions

CHAMPAIGN — For the first time since 2006, the Morris Community High School has a state wrestling champion. Kenny Baldridge became the first titleist since John Dergo by winning the IHSA Class 2A 132-pound weight class by defeating Alexander Butler of Rockford Boylan by fall in 6:27 in overtime.

Also joining Baldridge from the area at the top of the podium on Saturday was Coal City 113-pound Class A wrestler Cody Minnick. Minnick defeated Brandon Briggs of North Boone 3-2.

Coal City 126 pounder Corey Jurzak was runner up at 126 and 132 pounder Casey Brown was also runner up.
