MORRIS – The Grundy County chapter of Thrivent Financial can help your local organization or charity.

All Thrivent Financial members belong to a local chapter that provides a way for them to give back to their communities, congregations and causes they care about through charitable activities.

Through its chapter programs, Thrivent Financial members come together in service to help their communities. Members are able to use Thrivent Financial dollars to add to the funds raised at an activity/fundraiser.

The Grundy County chapter meets monthly to discuss options of reaching out into the community to give assistance and to receive funding requests for individuals and/or charitable organizations. Assistance in the past has been given to Hospice, We Care of Grundy County, a shoe ministry, and individuals due to illness and natural disasters.

An example of financial assistance to an individual’s cause is the upcoming spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Mitch Nystedt family. The local Thrivent chapter has approved funding and will also contribute volunteer hours on the day of the activity.

A recent funding project was the “Trivia Challenge” held by Peace Lutheran youth during the weekend of Souper Bowl of Caring with raised dollars going to We Care of Grundy County.

For information about requesting supplemental funding for a fundraising activity to assist an individual/family or an organization, contact Len Fisher, local chapter president, at 815-942-1010.
