Berkot’s Super Foods hosts Dr. Seuss celebration

COAL CITY – Berkot’s Super Foods is celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday today at seven of its locations, including its Coal City store.

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” – Dr. Seuss, Happy birthday to you.

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ March birthday, Berkot’s is inviting the community to join its employees at a kid-friendly celebration today, according to a news release.

Seven Berkot’s locations will be hosting a “Seuss Station” from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. Throughout the day, children will be able to listen as Berkot’s employees read popular Dr. Seuss stories, participate in Dr. Seuss-themed crafts and enjoy healthy snacks in between. 

All books used for this event are provided by the White Oak Library District in Lockport. 

Readings will begin at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. 

“Dr. Seuss Read with Me Day” events will be held at the Coal City, New Lenox, Mokena, Orland Park, Manhattan, Manteno and Lockport locations. 

As a thank you, parents who bring their children to the event will be given a $5 off coupon to use at any of the participating locations, according to the release.

Berkot’s Super Foods is a family-owned grocery chain that began in Harvey in 1983. Since then, Berkot’s has expanded to 14 stores.
