MORRIS – The Morris Theatre Guild, Inc. has begun rehearsals and is taking reservations for its spring production of Frederick Knott’s drama/mystery/thriller "Wait Until Dark."
The story: A sinister con man, Roat, and two ex-convicts, Mike and Carlino, are about to meet their match. They have traced the location of a mysterious doll, which they are much interested in, to the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy.
Sam had apparently been persuaded by a strange woman to transport the doll across the Canadian border, not knowing that sewn inside were several grams of heroin. When the strange woman is murdered, the situation becomes more urgent.
The cast consists of both veteran and new guild members, including Kevin Fogarty of Gardner, Sam Obrochta, Melanie Ruettiger, Brian Stroup, Colleen Stroup, and Josh Wren, all of Morris, and Bill Griffith of Plainfield. The production is directed by Jim Welch of Morris and assisted by Tim Atchison of Plainfield.
"Wait Until Dark" opens May 2. The production continues on May 3, 4, 9, 10, and closes May 11. All Friday and Saturday evening performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and both Sunday matinee performances will begin at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices for adults are $12 each if reserved and $15 each if purchased at the door.
Those 13 and under, or students able to show their ID, the ticket price is $10 in advance. Otherwise, the adult price applies. Reservations can be made by emailing email@example.com, calling the theatre at (815) 942-1966, or online at the guild’s new website, morristheatreguild.org.
