Roundup: Morris falls to DeKalb in NIB12 Softball

DEKALB – Morris’ softball team lost, 6-5, on Monday in a Northern Illinois Big 12 contest. Taya Torkelson (RBI) and Kelly Kolotka (RBI) each had two hits for Morris (16-3, 4-2), while Maddy Feeney, Lauren Severson, Emily Moore (2 RBIs) and Leah Lines also contributed a hit.

Dwight 3, Wilmington 1: The Wildcats outhit the Panthers, 7-5, but couldn’t overcome a two-run first inning in the Interstate 8 contest. Ashley Adermann (RBI) and Miranda Southall had two hits each while Southall allowed five hits and struck out five for Wilmington.

Gardner-South Wilmington 7, St. Anne 0: The Panthers (13-5, 6-2) won Monday’s contest by forfeit because St. Anne didn’t have enough players.

BASEBALL

Wilmington 6, Dwight 5: Tony Shinchak had two hits, including the game-winning two-run double in the seventh, to lead the Wildcats to the I-8 win. Peter Hansen (RBI) and Karsen Kopmann each had two hits for the Trojans (7-16, 0-10), who led 5-2 after four innings.

Fieldcrest 6, Seneca 5: Brandon Pasdertz (2-5) took the loss Saturday, giving up two earned runs and walking only one. Hunter Simon went 2 for 4 and Austin Applebee and Brant Baudino hit doubles for the Irish.

Peotone 6, Seneca 5: Applebee and Lars Pihl both were 2 for 4. Kale Walsh hit doubles Friday.

Marquette 6, Seneca 2: Brandon Viken took the loss as Hunter Simon had two hits, and Brandon Pasdertz and Brandon Viken both doubled Wednesday.
