Roundup: Youth baseball, softball action heating up

Results from area youth baseball and softball leagues:


Standard Bank 22, Sandworks 7: Standard won big behind five hits and two good defensive plays by T.J. Rzasa. Standard also had five hits by Aaron Wills and four hits by Aden Delahera and Matthew Sizemore. Sandworks was led in hitting by Brady Harris and Aidan Mahalas.


Minooka Fire Department 3, Walsh Tree Service 3: In a game full of rallies, Minooka Fire Department jumped on the board first with two runs in the fourth from Brody Luzbetak and Brayden Zilis. Minooka Fire Department compiled 14 hits from Jack Rasmussen, Tyler Gestel, Brayden Zilis, Joey Jaskowiak, Izaac Gonzalez and Brody Luzbetak while tying the game in the bottom of the sixth. Walsh Tree Service pushed through with a huge rally of three runs in the top of sixth with hits from Justin Jones, Lucas Munsell, Rhett Harris, Jackson Pool, and Nick and Tyler DeLuca.

Minooka Fire Department 2, Heartland Bank 2: Minooka Fire Department was led at the plate by Jack Rasmussen and Brayden Zilis with two hits each. Solid pitching from Ayden Crumly, Brody Luzbetak and Izaac Gonzalez with strong defense kept the game close. Hearltand Bank was led with solid hits from Paul Donahue, Thomas Owen, Bryce Parker, Will Gerrard and Mike Serra. Paul Donahue, Bryce Parker and Will Gerrard pitched very well and Mike Serra played solid defense.

Minooka Fire Department 2, U Can Store It 0: Minooka Fire Department was led with 2 for 2 efforts at the plate from Joey Jaskowiak, Brayden Zilis and Izaac Gonzalez. Combining great defense and solid pitching from Jack Rasmussen, Brayden Zilis and Joey Jaskowiak, Minooka Fire Department was able to hang on for the victory. U Can Store It kept it close with solid pitching from Isaac Goddard, Wes Owens and Spencer Bruinsma while receiving hits from Lucas Thompson, Isaac Goddard, Wes Owens and Spencer Bruinsma.


Homer Fire 9, Minooka Mudslingers 7: The Mudslingers were making a comeback from a 9-2 deficit in the sixth inning with a runner on third and the tying run at the plate when the game was called because of lightning. Johnathan Forneris was 1 for 3 with a double. Jack Kennedy and Tre Sangiacomo were both 1 for 2 at the plate.

Minooka Rivercats 10U 21, Lincoln Way Yellow Jackets 7: Minooka starter Ryan Norman struck out six in three innings. Minooka’s offense was led by Ryan Norman, Caleb Parker, and Ivan Dahlberg with three hits each. Frankie Hummel and Ethan Hocking each added two hits.


Minooka Rivercats 2, Troy Titans 1: Minooka was led on the mound with a combined effort from Ben Cservenyak, Ryan Swanson, and Malcolm Walker. Alex Cameron, Ben Cservenyak, Malcolm Walker, Reese Harris, and Brandon Banks each had hits for the Rivercats.


Fat Boyz Pizza 6, Book & Bean Cafe 5: For Fat Boyz Pizza, Pablo Pardo pitched a complete game with 15 strikeouts over seven innings. Jacob Love was 2 for 2, both doubles. Pardo was also 2 for 2 at the plate.


Ritchey Orthodontics 14, Pizza for U 7: Kaden Conner had three hits to lead Ritchey, while Devon Spangler, Dillion Mroz, Ryan Howard all had two hits. Logan Konrath pitched two scoreless innings. For Pizza for U, Camden Ptrusich and Aidan Delarosa each had hits.

Ritchey Orthodontics 8, MC Sports 7: For Ritchey, Devon Spangler had three hits, Adam Schmit, Kaden Conner, Dylan Mroz and Ty Gray all had a hit. Spangler, Mroz and Adam Schmit pitched the win. For MC Sports, Jake Dilorenzo and Christian Duarte each had three hits.



Minooka Shorewood Home and Auto 17, Troy Titans Black 13: Minooka scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to come from behind and win. Leading the way were Brandon Driscoll (3 for 4, double, 5 RBIs), Danny Bader (3 for 4, 4 IP), Dylan Schmidt (2 for 3), Jon Brandom (3 for 5, 4 RBIs) and Nick Curatolo (2 for 4, double).


Minooka Pharmacy 13, Channahon Minions 13: For Minooka Pharmacy, Gabriella Garcia, Sydney Gapinski, and Noelle Brunke each pitched. Samantha Reiter had two nice defensive plays at first. Macey Wharry had two hits. For Channahon Minions, Mallory Gierman, Nivaya Paramo, Saige Goldstein and Emma Pettigrew all had hits and played well defensively.

Private Bank 20, Minooka Ace Hardware 15: The play of the season happened on Saturday by Private Bank, as Sophia Borjon caught a pop fly and threw to Bella Krajecki, who made a great play to scoop it out of the dirt at first to double up the runner. Sammi Samuilis made all three outs at third base in the second inning. Mia Cisneros had a line shot up the middle for Ace. Angelina Marshall and Cassie Brushaber pitched well for Minooka Ace Hardware.

Morris Hospital and Healthcare 20, Channahon #6 10: For Morris Hospital, Abby Haake and Carlie Farrar teamed up to make a defensive play from center field to second base for an out. Dakota Wilkins, Taylor Mackin, Carlie Farrar, and Carly Berta pitched well.

Morris Hospital & Healthcare 14, Minooka Pharmacy 11: For Morris Hospital, Sofie Dziuba had two defensive plays at home to stop runs from scoring. Claire Olsen, Dziuba, Carly Berta, and Raygen Pilon each pitched well. For Minooka Pharmacy, Macey Wharry pitched well, while Gabi Garcia and Gigi Vallera each had two hard hits.

Morris Hospital 13, Channahon #7 5: For Morris Hospital Karli McMillin and Carly Berta teamed up twice for outs on defense. Abby Haake, Karli McMillin, and Brooklyn Carroll pitched well. For Channahon, Mackenzie Poulson made a nice play at third and Cassie Shields had a great game at the plate.

Minooka Pharmacy 14, Morris Hospital 10: For Minooka Pharmacy, Taylor Lopina, Samantha Reiter, Kayla Conner and Sarah Grouleh pitched well. Taylor Lopina caught a fly ball in center field for an out. Macey Wharry, Noelle Brunke, and Cecelia Marlow, and Sydney Gaspinski all had two hits. For Morris Hospital, Karli McMillin, Abby Haake, Brooklyn Carroll and Gracie Anderson each pitched well. Sofie Dziuba and Brooklyn Carroll each had a catch in the field for outs. Sofie Dziuba hit a hard shot to left field.
