MORRIS – Four Immaculate Conception School seventh-grade students presented science projects at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Fair that was held at Northern Illinois University earlier this month.
The four are Logan Edwards, Aiden Lawyer, Erin Blaskey and Grant Hatteberg, according to a news release from the school.
The students were required to write a research paper, perform experiments and reach a conclusion. Students provided this information to judges with expertise in specific areas of science. The students also gave an oral presentation to the judges, presented a visual display, and answered questions pertaining to their project. They then received a rating of gold, silver, bronze or participation.
Receiving gold awards for their project in the consumer science category are Lawyer and Blaskey. Hatteberg received silver recognition for his consumer science project and Edwards received a bronze award for his physics category project, according to the release.
In order to participate in the State Science Fair, students needed to achieve a high rating at the ICS Science Fair that was held in January and the Diocesan Science Fair in March. Their science fair projects were done under the direction of ICS teachers, Janelle Aldrich and Loreen Vlk, with help and support from their parents.
