Arrangements made for Coal City Marine

MORRIS – Arrangements have been made for Marine Lance Cpl. Steven Hancock, 20, who died earlier this week in a tragic accident.

Hancock is a 2011 graduate of Coal City High School and the son of Sue and Mike Hancock of Goose Lake.

Visitation have been scheduled for 3 to 8 p.m. May 29, at the First Christian Church, 455 W. Southmor Road in Morris, according to U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris, which is handling the arrangements.

A celebration of Hancock's life is planned for 10 a.m. May 30, also at the church, with Pastor Greg Bolt officiating. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.  Full Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps, according to his obituary.

Memorials may be made in Steven’s name to First Christian Youth Group or the Coal City Boy Scout Troop 466.

Hancock, a 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Marine fell from an MV-22B Osprey aircraft while it was conducting a familiarization training flight Monday evening about 45 miles west of Marine Corps Air Station New River near White Lake, North Carolina. His body was found Tuesday afternoon through extensive search measures by marine and civilian agencies.
