MORRIS – The Morris Building and Loan, Boggs & Fillenwarth, and the Law Office of Robert J. Russo donated more than $750 to help We Care of Grundy County purchase 4,629 pounds of food from Northern Illinois Food Bank and provided volunteers to unload the truck and stock the shelves last week. “When combined with the food we received from the Letter Carrier Food Drive earlier this month, we are well stocked and ready for our summer busy season," We Care’s Denise Gaska said in a news release. The need in the summer increases, Gaska said, because children who receive free meals at school are not receiving them and families come to the pantry on a more regular basis. In the last month We Care has helped 278 families from its food pantry. We Care receives a monthly delivery of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, which provides food, cleaning, and personal hygiene products to food pantries at prices unattainable in grocery stores. Upcoming Fill the Pantry sponsors include Brandt Builders and United Meters Inc; LyondellBasell and Morris Hospital. We Care, at 520 W. Illinois Ave., Morris, is a nonprofit agency that provides emergency assistance to Grundy County residents in the form of food, rent, utility and prescription assistance.
