MORRIS – Downtown Morris is getting some fresh new flowers and plants this spring.

Thanks to a donation to the Morris Downtown Development Partnership from Jim Baum, the MDDP was able to replace the existing anchor plants from downtown planters and add new annuals, according to a news release from the MDDP.

Steve Shay and Steve Barr removed the old plants, and Morris Area Garden Club members were joined recently by several MDDP members to install the plants.Julie Applegate, executive director with the MDDP, would like to thank all who assisted with this project.

“In addition to these volunteers, we would like to thank Morris Public Works and the downtown businesses who have offered to water and maintain the plants in between the city’s regular watering,” she said in the news release.

“We are very happy with the response we have received from downtown businesses and their willingness to assist,” she continued.

Part of the Morris Downtown Development Partnership’s mission is to maintain and enhance downtown Morris, and they are pleased to have this opportunity to improve to the existing streetscape.
