MORRIS – This year Nettle Creek School students again raised more than $1,300 for the American Heart Association through the Jump Rope for Heart program earlier this month.

Pat Kirkpatrick’s eighth-grade class were in charge of this activity and manned six different stations for the kindergarten through fifth-grade classes as they took part in Jump Rope for Heart, according to a news release from Nettle Creek School. The students used their skills and agility to jump rope, have jump rope and basketball relays, and get their heart rate up. Participants also tossed beanbags as they traced blood movement through the chambers of the heart.

Later in the day, The Hoops for Heart group made up of the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades had a basketball tournament. The tournament was made up of six games, with the winners of the seventh game being our Hoops for Heart overall winners. The winning team was comprised of Hunter Greve, Grace Larson, Virginia Hayes, Marissa Berkley and Dan Grant.

The Nettle Creek PTO provided a healthy snack and drink for all of the participants.
