MINOOKA – The Illinois Department of Transportation will be removing the Minooka Road bridge beams over Interstate 80 about two miles west of the Minooka interchange beginning today.
The removal work will take place at night from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. today to Friday, according to a news release from IDOT. All through traffic on I-80 will be detoured around the work zone during the removal. The detour will be put in place at 6 p.m. today. The detour is anticipated to be in place for two nights.
The detour routes are I-80 west traffic will exit at the Minooka interchange and travel north to Ridge Road to Route 52, then west to Route 47 and south on 47 back to I-80 west. I-80 east traffic will exit at Brisbin Road and travel east on Route 6 to Interstate 55 north to I-80 east.
The beam removal is part of a $6.9 million contract with “D” Construction of Coal City for the replacement of the Minooka Road structure.
