BRAIDWOOD – Braidwood Generating Station’s top priority is protecting the health and safety of those who live near the plant. To ensure this, it is conducting a drill today.

A crucial component to protecting its neighbor's health and safety is to train its security force to repel an attack by hostile assailants, according to a news release from the station.

Today, Braidwood’s security team will conduct limited scope force-on-force exercises, similar to last week’s training. The exercises will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. within the fenced portion of Braidwood Station property.

To achieve a realistic combat scenario, the mock assailants and Braidwood’s security officers will fire weapons loaded with blanks. As such, you may see individuals posing as terrorists on our property and you may hear the sound of simulated gunfire during these drills.

The station wants to remind the public that these actions they may observe are just a drill for training.
