Morris Hospital and branches awarded full accreditation

MORRIS – The Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program has awarded Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers full accreditation based on results of an extensive and objective on-site review.

The accreditation is an indication that Morris Hospital and its 16 off-campus locations provide quality and safe care for patients.

“Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers clearly demonstrates a commitment to quality patient care,” Beverly Robins, director of accreditation/certification services for HFAP, said in a news release. “We base our decision on federal standards, as well as recognized national standards for patient safety, quality improvement, and environmental safety. Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers met or exceeded standards in every case.”

During the three and a half day, unannounced survey, HFAP surveyors conducted an intense review of policies and practices to verify Morris Hospital’s compliance with the 1,200 standards set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Surveyors toured the hospital and several off campus facilities, reviewed documents, files and charts, and conducted interviews with patients, physicians and staff. New to the 2014 survey was the addition of a life safetysurveyor who conducted an intense inspection of the building.

“Quality is consistently a strategic priority for our organization, so we’re extremely proud to achieve this prestigious distinction,” Mark Steadham, president and CEO of Morris Hospital, said in the release. “By awarding accreditation, HFAP has recognized our commitment to providing outstanding care to our patients and our community.”

HFAP’s mission is to advance high quality patient care and safety through objective application of recognized standards. Morris Hospital’s accreditation is effective April 25, 2014, through 2017, at which time a resurvey will be required in order to maintain accreditation.
