Dynamos II Tumbling, Trampoline and Cheer Club will send 16 young athletes to Nationals in Louisville June 16 through June 21.

The athletes qualified at the Northern Illinois State Meet in Peoria on May 2 and 3. Dynamos II offers recreational and competitive tumbling, trampoline and cheer for ages two through 22, beginner or elite. To qualify for Nationals, team members had to place individually, in the top 10 in their age group and division.

“Dynamos II young athletes compete as individuals, but they practice as a team and they inspire each other,” said Bonnie Barrow, owner & head coach of Dynamos II Tumbling, Trampoline & Cheer Club, 400 Earl St., Shorewood. “Throughout the season they learn self-discipline, self-control and the importance of team spirit and good sportsmanship.”

The kids practice up to eight hours per week and attend at least one meet per month from October through June to prepare for Nationals in June. The team is coached by Barrow and Assistant Coach Ashley Benson.

“They would all love to take first place at every meet, but their main objective is to better their own individual scores with each upcoming competition and strive to do the best they possibly can,” Barrow said.

Barrow’s hope is that her athletes come home feeling accomplished because they know they did the best they possibly could.

“We train them to be the best they can be,” Barrow said. “It’s a process and takes time. Of course, we would love to have some National Champions. That is our ultimate goal, and theirs.”
