MARSEILLES -- On Saturday, June 21, the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial in Marseilles will celebrate its 10th anniversary where it is planned to unveil a new addition to the Memorial Wall.
The Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial is currently under construction with two more granite panels being installed, room for additional panels, a case for the 9/11 Pentagon block and a viewing area on the south side of the memorial. This project is being donated by the city of Marseilles, Labor Hall 393, D Construction, River Ready-Mix, and volunteers of the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run and Middle East Tribute Committee of Marseilles, according to a news release.
The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at the Wall, located at 200 Riverfront Drive in Marseilles, and will include speakers Sharon Allen, an Iraq war veteran and Retired Army Lt. Colonel Ryan Yantis, who served at the Pentagon when it was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001.
Following the ceremony, the city invites you to join a Celebration of Freedom, with the annual Freedom Fest on Main Street.
