MARSEILLES – The missing boater who entered the river to cool off Sunday and went missing in Marseilles hasve been recovered.

"On June 21, 2014, at 4:20 p.m., the IDNR Conservation Police received a call to respond to an area of the Illinois River approximately half-mile mile east of the Illini Park boat ramp.  Reportedly, a Naperville man, Alberto Rodriguez, Jr., age 35, had entered the water from an anchored boat to cool off. Rodriquez was then swept downriver by the swift current," according to a news release sent Tuesday afternoon fro the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Recovery efforts continued Monday and Tuesday for the missing boater. Ottawa River Rescue, IDNR, Marseilles Fire Department, Seneca Fire Department and Reading Township Fire Department conducted an ongoing, extensive search of the river from the time of the incident.

Rodriquez was found Tuesday in the Illinois River just west of Allen Park in Ottawa, according to the news release. He was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m.

This incident is under investigation by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police and the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.
