MORRIS – The search has resumed for a female boater who has been missing in the Illinois River since Sunday.

The missing woman has been identified as Emily Hendricks, 24, of Wheaton, according to Morris Fire Chief Tracey Steffes. She was one of four people on a Bayliner pleasure craft that became lodged at 3:27 p.m. Sunday in the Dresden Dam just east of Morris on the Illinois River.

The Coal City Fire Department rescued one person from the boat, and two others were rescued from the water by another pleasure craft; all were transported to Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers by ambulance, according to authorities. They were later treated and released.

The search resumed about 9 a.m. Wednesday, with three boats starting near the Seneca bridge. Crews have searched every day since Sunday looking for the Hendricks. Previous searches have included boats from local rescue agencies, as well as a helicopter from the Coast Guard.
