MORRIS - An 87-year-old man with Alzheimer's who was reported missing Tuesday afternoon has been found and is being treated at Morris Hospital.

At about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday the son of the missing man called police when he could not find his father at their Old Pine Bluff Road home.

At about 7:15 p.m. Morris Fire Protection & Ambulance District personnel found him at the Mazon River, said Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan Tuesday evening. The man had slipped into the river and had his feet submerged when he was found.

It appears the man had wandered from Old Pine Bluff across Pine Bluff Road to a field located near the Mazon River Bridge, Callahan said.

Morris fire, Morris police, the Grundy Emergency Management Agency and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources all responded to the call. A Lifestar helicopter also flew over to see if they could help find the man, the sheriff said. The MABAS 15 dive team also was called in, but the man was found just before the dive team went into action.

The man was dehydrated and taken to Morris Hospital, Callahan said. Overall, the incident had a good ending, he said.
