Roundup: Warriors teach Heads Up techniques at camp

The Morris Warriors held its 2014 youth football camp last week. Players ages 6 through 13 from the surrounding area participated and learned the fundamentals of football. The camp was led by the Warriors coaching staff and many alumni that are now playing collegiate football assisted.

Significant focus was spent teaching USA Football’s Heads Up techniques, which are designed to limit injuries, especially concussions. All Warriors coaches have certified as Heads Up Coaches with USA Football.


Morris Tomahawks: The Morris Tomahawks baseball tryouts for the 13U 2015 season will take place on Thursday at Roth Field next to Shabbona school from 6 to 8 p.m. The tryouts are open and there is no fee to try out. The Tomahawks’ 12U tryouts will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Westside Baseball Field, which is the field by White Oak Elementary. With any questions, contact

Rowdie Katz: Tryouts for the Rowdie Katz 10U and 12U softball programs for the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015 will be July 17 at 6 p.m. at Roth Field. Tryouts for the 14U, 16U and 18U teams will be at 4 p.m. at Roth Field on July 26. Interested players can go to for information.
