Public meeting to be held on Clean Line project

Published: Wednesday, July 16, 2014 9:17 p.m. CDT

MORRIS – A public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at the Grundy County Administration Building regarding the Rock Island Clean Line project.

The public is encouraged to bring questions and concerns to the panel of representatives who will be speaking about the RICL project. That panel includes Amy Kurt of Clean Line Energy, Kathy Perry of Saratoga School District, Mayor Joe Cook from the village of Channahon, a farm bureau representative, Nancy Norton Ammer of the Grundy Economic Development Council and Chris Balkema of Grundy County Board and Clean Line negotiations chair.

The proposed project would span from Iowa to Illinois, ending in Grundy County with a large converter station. The line would traverse through several acres of Grundy County farmland and has been a source of much controversy.

For those wishing to address the panel, public comment will begin at 6 p.m. at the administration building, 1320 Union St., Morris.
