WILMINGTON – Learn about Midewin’s past, present and future as we explore, on foot and via car caravan, restored wetlands and prairie and observe rare grassland birds.
At 10 a.m. July 26, find out why ecological restoration is so important, while experiencing some of Midewin’s best examples of restored prairie. Learn how Midewin will change and what that will mean for wildlife and recreation. We will also visit one of the remaining ammunition bunkers for a glimpse into the past. This tour takes places on unimproved roads; expect potholes and gravel.
Participants will meet at the Welcome Center. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow enough time to check-in. Reservations are required and should be made by July 25. Reservations can be made by calling 815-423-6370 or email Midewin_RSVP@fs.fed.us. Include your contact information.
