MORRIS – Police are working to obtain security surveillance to try and identify the suspected who entered the Morris Citgo on Thursday night wearing a mask, claiming to have a weapon and demanding cash.

The masked male left in the middle of the altercation, according to Morris police, with no money from the gas station.

At about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, a male dressed in all gray with a ski mask entered the gas station at 303 E. Washington St., according to the police report. He advised he was armed and demanded money from the cashier.

Deputy Police Chief Harvey Van Cleave said Friday afternoon the suspect inferred he had a weapon, but did not show it.

"At some point during the confrontation the subject just walked out," Van Cleave said.

The suspect left on foot from the gas station.

"We have very limited information. We're just waiting on the security video to try and make an identification on the suspect," Van Cleave said.

Morris police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call 815-942-2131.
