Morris Hospital, Dr. Charles Comfort announce affiliation

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers and Internal Medicine physician Dr. Charles Comfort have completed an affiliation agreement that merges Dr. Comfort’s practice with Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers.

MORRIS – Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers and Internal Medicine physician Dr. Charles Comfort have completed an affiliation agreement that merges Dr. Comfort’s practice with Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers.

Dr. Comfort’s office locations remain the same: in Morris at the Morris Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, 1345 Edwards St., and in Mazon at the Mazon Medical Center, 522 Depot St. The Mazon Medical Center will be renamed Mazon Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, according to a a news release from the hospital.

Other than the name change at the Mazon office, Comfort’s patients should expect very few changes. The practice will make the transition to an electronic medical record, which will result in the availability of a patient portal and electronic prescribing of medications, two current trends in the health care industry. The office staff will remain the same.

“The affiliation is yet another example of one of the many ways we are able to work collaboratively with physicians on the Morris Hospital Medical Staff through unique partnerships,” Mark Steadham, President & CEO of Morris Hospital, said in the release.

As an internal medicine physician, Comfort provides primary care services for adult patients. He is a graduate of University of Missouri and completed an internship and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee.

Comfort joined the medical staff at Morris Hospital in 1983 and was voted best doctor in Grundy County in 1996 through a Morris Daily Herald reader’s poll.

“The affiliation with Morris Hospital primarily involves behind-the-scenes work that will have minimal impact on my patients,” Comfort said in a release. “Morris Hospital is a fitting partner, considering my long-time relationship over the past 30 years as a physician on the medical staff.”
