This year's Home for the Holiday's Housewalk will be on Nov. 29. Five homes in the Morris area will be on display decorated for the holidays as this staircase is for Christmas.

MORRIS – “Over the river and through the woods” is the perfect description for this year’s Home for the Holidays Housewalk scheduled for Nov. 29.

Five homes will be featured from north of Route 6 to south of the Illinois River, according to a news release from the Morris Downtown Development Partnership, which hosts the event and other Home for the Holidays events annually.

For the second year, the Housewalk will be held on a Saturday to accommodate the busy holiday weekend.

“After years of competing with Black Friday sales, the decision to move the Housewalk to Saturday was exactly the boost we needed. We saw a marked increase in attendance last year,” Penny Olson-Langland, chairwoman of the housewalk committee, said in the release.

This year’s housewalk participants in the annual Morris event are:

• Gil and Linda Jones, 3755 Primrose Lane

• Janet and Dick Olson,11200 N. Scott School Road

• Donna Sroczynski, 1555 Walden Crescent

• Anne and Dennie Long, 306 Main St.

• Bob and Chris Nowicki,3885 Nettle Creek Drive

Those attending can stop by Living Waters Church, 118 E. Jefferson St., for a cup of tea, cookies and to rest their feet before heading downtown to enjoy a day of shopping.

For information about the housewalk, or for those interested in volunteering for the event, contact Olson-Langland at For information about Home for the Holidays in general, contact Julie Applegate of the Morris Downtown Development Partnership at 815-941-0245.
