MORRIS – Members of the Grundy County community came together July 22 for a Book Sorting Party for United Way of Grundy County.

In the last several months, United Way of Grundy County has collected books for the annual Grundy County Back to School Fair, which will be Saturday at the Coal City Early Childhood Center.

“Thanks to many generous individuals throughout Grundy County, this year’s book drive yielded over 2,000 books,”  Cindy Perryman, associate director of United Way, said in a news release. “The Book Sorting Party provided an opportunity for volunteers to come together for a common purpose – not to mention fun.”

The Grundy County Back to School Fair and Book Drive align with the United Way of Grundy County’s ‘United We Educate’ initiative. The books will be given to families in need at the Back to School Fair. Families pre-registered for the event, but information booths are open to the public at the fair.

United Way of Grundy County has a variety of volunteer opportunities.

“The great thing about volunteering is flexibility. You can volunteer for a single event, on a regular basis or for a cause close to your heart,” Perryman said.
