MORRIS – The Morris Theatre Guild, Inc., 516 West Illinois Ave., Morris, will hold open auditions for its fall production of Neil Simon’s comedy, "God’s Favorite." Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 and 4.

Auditions will take the form of cold readings, therefore, no special preparations are necessary. You need not be a member of the Morris Theatre Guild to audition, however, you must be 18 years of age or older. Five adult males and three adult females are needed.

The play tells the comedic story of successful Long Island businessman Joe Benjamin is a modern-day 'Job' with a demanding wife, ungrateful children and wise-cracking household employees. Just when it seems things couldn't get any worse, he is visited by Sidney Lipton – a messenger from God with a mission to test Joe's faith and report back to "the Boss."

God’s Favorite opens Nov. 7 at the Morris Theatre Guild. Additional performances will be held Nov, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16. All Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and both Sunday matinees will begin at 2:30 p.m. For information on auditions, group sales, house buy-outs or anything else, contact Director Annie Kowalczyk at or visit
