SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno, R-Lemont, has appointed state Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, to the position of Senate Republican whip.
“Sen. Rezin brings tremendous energy, fresh ideas and forward-thinking to her new role,” Radogno said in a news release. “Together our focus remains on building a bigger and stronger Caucus while working to improve Illinois for all its citizens.”
Rezin said she was “truly thrilled” to take on the new role, and thanked Radogno for the opportunity.
“I believe our team can and will make an immediate and positive impact on this state for all of its residents,” Rezin said in the news release.
Radogno appointed current Republican Whip Sen. Tim Bivins to the position of assistant Senate Republican leader, a position vacated by outgoing Sen. Kirk Dillard, R-Hinsdale, who left to become chairman of the Regional Transportation Authority.
“My appointment will give North Central Illinois an even stronger voice in state government,” Rezin said in the news release. “This will help ensure that our area is best represented in future legislation, as we work to improve education, the economy, and reduce unemployment throughout our state.”
