Wiers Baseball Academy tryouts to be held Saturday in Morris

MORRIS – The 2015 Wiers Baseball Academy Warrior and Lady Warrior second tryout times have been set for at 5 p.m. Saturday Wiers Baseball Academy is at 824 Liberty St. in Morris.

Cost for the camp is $25, but it is free to those who attend camp and free to call backs.

Tryouts: The Illinois Irish 16U/18U softball program will be hosting a tryout at 11 a.m. Friday at the Seneca High School softball diamond. For information, contact Dan Stecken at 815-326-2559 or


Morris High School tryouts: For anyone interested in playing golf for Morris High School, tryouts will be at 7 a.m. on Aug. 13, Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 at Morris Country Club. Golfers need to be at the course by 6:45 a.m.


Minooka: Minooka will be offering free sports physicals from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Campus, Door 1. This is open to all sophomore, junior and senior athletes. All student-athletes must have a current physical on file with the school nurse’s office.

Every physical must have been performed within 395 days to be current.

Freshman students may use their freshman entrance physical toward their requirement. Sophomore, junior and senior students must turn in a completed IHSA/IESA physical form to the athletic office. These forms are available at and in the Athletic Director’s office. Contact the Athletic Office with questions or concerns at 815-467-2140, ext 135.

Physicals will be given on a first come-first served basis.


Morris High School practice: Girls interested in coming out for the MCHS girls tennis team, please meet from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 13 on the MCHS courts for the first day of practice. Please make sure all necessary paperwork is turned in to the school nurse in order to participate in practice.
