Back to School Fun Fair - Living Water Church

The sixth annual Back to School Fun Fair has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. This year's location will be in downtown Morris at 118 East Jefferson St. The street will be blocked off for the fun and games. 

This free event is designed for youngsters in kindergarten through fifth grade and will be a fun time of entertainment with a bounce house, games, face painting, food and more. This year’s fair, which is free, will provide a fun atmosphere for all ages. All youth will receive a Back to School bag with supplies.

Living Water's Praise Team will offer live music from today's christian artists through out the event.

Farewell to Pastor Steve Lombardo Sunday

LISBON – Area friends are invited to share in a Farewell Open House for Pastor Steve and Stephanie Lombardo from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Pastor Steve began his ministry at West Lisbon Church in September of 2005 after serving as a church planter in Virginia. In July, the Lombardo family accepted a call to serve at the Village Bible Church in Sugar Grove as Pastor of Community Life.

West Lisbon Church is on Joliet Road, 2 1/2 miles west of the Lisbon Fire house.

St. Patrick's Church to hold breakfast in the park

SENECA – St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society will hold a breakfast in the park from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday in Crotty Park on Shipyard Road in Seneca.

The cost is $5 for adults and and children ages 3 to 10 are $3. Children under 3 years old are free. The breakfast is open to the public.

On the menu will be pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, orange juice and coffee.

St. Larry’s Roast to change times

SOUTH WILMINGTON – The St. Lawrence Catholic Church of South Wilmington would like to extend an invitation to its first “St. Larry’s Roast” at 5 p.m. on Aug. 16. The time of the event is now at 5 p.m. instead of the previously planned 6 p.m.

The event will take place at the parish hall in South Wilmington. There will be roasted pork, barbecue and hot dog meals served along with homemade desserts, that can be topped off with ice cream. There will also be games for the children and adults alike. The annual quilt raffle drawing will also take place at the end of the evening.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church offering bible study

MORRIS – Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 202 W. Jefferson St., is having Thursday evening bible studies this summer at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Lohse is teaching on topics such as spiritual warfare, death, stewardship, worship, bible interpretation and suffering. Special senior worship service to be held

CHANNAHON – Midweek Connections Thursdays are at 1:30 p.m. at Families of Faith Church, 24466 W Eames St., Channahon. You will hear good old-fashioned Bible preaching, music from a hymnal and fellowship. For information, visit

Ice Cream Social at Joliet Jewish Congregation

JOLIET – The Joliet Jewish Congregation is hosting an ice cream social and open house for all current members and anyone interested in learning more about membership, services and events.
