OSF Saint Elizabeth Foundation Board Chairman George Shanley presented an Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, to Dan Flavel, vice president of the Illinois Valley Titans baseball organization.
An AED is a portable device that checks heart rhythm. If needed, it can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest.
The OSF Saint Elizabeth Foundation was established in 1994. Every dollar donated to the Foundation stays in the OSF Saint Elizabeth service area and helps the hospital make a difference in the lives of its patients, their families, and the community as a whole.
