Hoffman claims another win at Grundy Speedway

MORRIS – Eddie Hoffman battled Larry Schuler for second place for most of the Late Model feature Friday at Grundy County Speedway.

Hoffman finally pulled clear of Schuler with nine laps remaining, then chased down leader Chris Cooling and passed him with four laps left en route to claiming the victory.

Cooling settled for second, followed by points leader Ricky Baker, Schuler, John Nutley and Mark Sontag Jr. Baker set the fast time, and Cooling and Ron Vandermeir Jr. won heats.

Tom Knippenberg captured his ninth Mid-American feature of the season and is headed toward his second straight track title. John Ventrello finished a distant second, followed by Josh Nelms, Joe Vinachi, Kenny Benson and Luke Baldwin.

Ventrello and Cody Clubb won heats, and Knippenberg set the fast time.

Points leader Eddie Ligue won his sixth street stocks feature of the season after leading most of the way. Fast qualifier Jack Bradley was second, followed by Josh Nelms, Bob Davis, Timmy Stewart and Peter Hernandez. Ligue and Logan Love won heats.

Pure stocks points leader Austin Blackwell survived a late challenge from Zach Sontag to win the feature, his second victory of the season. Following Blackwell and Sontag were Mikey Slabenak, Dan Schmeissing, Justin Mikel and Jim Gross.

Alex Gay, Sontag and Slabenak won heats, and Spencer Leake set the fast time.
