Morris Airport to receive more than $1 million in state funding

Grundy County will receive more than $1.1 million in state money for improvements at Morris Municipal Airport.

The $1.1 million will go toward extending runway 18/36 North at Morris Municipal Airport to 5,500 feet, according to a news release from the state. The project will be done by P.T. Ferro Construction Co. of Joliet, the lowest of three bidders.

The funding is part of $9.4 million Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday for construction projects at Illinois airports. The Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics will manage the projects, which includes federal, state and local funding, according to the news release.

Also in the region, Taxiway A at Joliet Regional Airport will be rehabilitated for $367,010 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of three bidders.
