Mazon Fire Department hosts third annual spaghetti fundraiser and fun day

MAZON – The Mazon Fire Protection District is bringing back the fun Saturday as it hosts its third annual spaghetti dinner to raise funds for needed equipment.

This year the event has grown with the inclusion of the Mazon Community Park Foundation and a day filled with fun events.

“We’re working with the Mazon Community Park Foundation to give Mazon a full day of fun things to do,” firefighter Robbie Clavey said.

The day starts at 10 a.m. with kids’ games at Park Street Church, and events continue with kiddie water fights at the fire station at noon.

From there, events move to Mazon Centennial Park all afternoon and will include a vendor show, kiddie carnival, a clown, a petting zoo and more.

The spaghetti dinner will be held at the American Legion Hall in downtown Mazon and will offer raffles as well as a hot meal. The money raised will be used to update equipment for the small all-volunteer district.

“The money will be used for equipment to continue to advance the skill set of our firefighters,” Clavey said.

The day will end with the band Boneyard playing in the beer garden at Centennial Park starting at 9 p.m.
