Living Water Church of the Nazarene to host New Year’s party

MORRIS – Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 E. Jefferson St. in Morris, will host a New Year’s Eve party at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Come and enjoy food, fun, games and fellowship to ring in the new year. Feel free to bring friends and family, a snack to pass and a game to play.

United Methodist Church to hold ‘Hallelujah’ soup supper Jan. 7

COAL CITY – Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 E. McArdle Road in Coal City, invites the community to join the church for its first “Hallelujah” Soup Supper of the new year from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 7.

The church will be serving homemade cheesy potato and stuffed green pepper soups. The cost will be $8 for adults and children ages 13 and older; $4 for children ages 12 to 6; $2 for children ages 5 to 3; and children ages 2 and younger can eat for free. All proceeds will go to the church’s building fund.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Each meal includes your choice of soup, a sandwich, crackers, a beverage, ice cream and dessert. Carryout will be available.

Helmar Lutheran Church to hold kumla dinner fundraiser

Helmar Lutheran Church is having an All You Can Eat Kumla Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 21. The proceeds are to support the HLC Food Pantry, which has grown from serving 10 families to serving 120 families twice a month in nine years of operation.

The dinner includes ham, kumla (like a dumpling), applesauce, dessert and a beverage.

For those who would prefer an alternative, a baked potato can be substituted for kumla. 

The church is at 11935 Lisbon Road near Newark, and can be reached at 815-695-5489. Carryout will be available. It is a free-will donation dinner.
