Area Roundup: Coal CIty's Dibble earns all-academic honors at North Central

NAPERVILLE — Jack Dibble of Coal City, a sophomore at North Central College and a member of the football team, recently earned Academic All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) honors.

Dibble, who ran for a school-record 2,671 yards his senior year in leading the Coalers to the Class 4A semifinas, ranked fourth on the team in rushing, gaining 215 yards on 49 carries and scoring four touchdowns. He ran for season-high 76 yards on 13 carries in 59-17 win over Elmhurst and scored two touchdowns in 42-7 victory over Millikin. The Cardinals finished the season as the CCIW Champions, 11-1 overall, and continued on to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs before losing to Wheaton College.

BASEBALL

Wiers Acadmey has clinic openings: Registration is open for two clinics at Wiers Baseball Academy. The advanced pitching clinic has three openings remaining and runs Tuesdays, Jan. 10, 17 24 and 31 from 6-7 p.m. All ages are welcome and players will work at their correct distance. Cost is $75. The Frozen Ropes hitting clinic has four openings and will be conducted on the same days from 5-6 p.m. Again, all ages are welcome and players will work at their correct distance. Cost is $60.
