Coal City United Methodist Church to hold “Hallelujah” Soup Supper on March 4
Coal City United Methodist Church, located at 6805 E. McArdleRoad in Coal City, invites the community to join them for their “Hallelujah”Soup Supper on Saturday, March 4, from 4-7 p.m. They will beserving delicious homemade cheesy potato soup as well as chili. The cost will be $8 for adults and children age 13 and older; $4 for children age 6 -12; $2 for children age 3 – 5; and children age 2 and under eat free. All proceeds will go to the church’s building fund. Tickets will be sold at the door. Each meal includes your choice of soup, a sandwich, crackers, a beverage, ice cream and dessert. Carry-outs will be available.
First United Methodist Church of Morris 175th Anniversary Celebration
The First United Methodist Church of Morris is celebrating the church’s 175th anniversary this year. Part of this celebration includes a performance from North Central Choir, which includes a concert choir and chamber singers, at 7 p.m Friday, March 10. Yorkville Congregational Church
"Night of Broadway – A Musical Mix-up” will hit the stage on Feb. 18 and 19. New this year: a sit-down dinner on Saturday night and a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Our 6th annual fundraiser concert is called “Night of Broadway – a Musical Mix-up.” We’re mixing up genders, ages and whatever else we can. We have selected a variety of songs performed by talented singers in our area.
The show will be directed by Meg McGarry, with piano accompaniment by Nan Grommes and Mary Ann Free.
Since this is a fundraiser for our Theatre Arts Academy, there will be a silent auction on Saturday night. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for bidding. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Bidding will be open through intermission, and the winners will be announced at the end of the show.
Dinner will be catered by Five B’s Catering, and will include a pork chop, chicken breast, au gratin potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, coffee and tea. Desserts and punch will be available during intermission. Sunday's matinee concert will start at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. Tickets are $30 for the dinner and show on Saturday and $20 for the show on Sunday. We are preparing two ensemble numbers, as well as a men’s chorus, women’s chorus, a barbershop quartet, several duets and small groups and some solos.
Channahon Antique Fair
Friday, March 10 (9 a.m. - 6 p.m.) and Saturday, March 11 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.), you’ll find antique treasures galore at the 2017 Antique Fair, now in its 17th year. The fair will be held at Channahon United Methodist Church, 24571 W. Eames in Channahon. A variety of dealers will assist you with jewelry, glassware, furniture, and much, much more. Admission is $2. Bring in one item per person for a free appraisal, and an additional item for $2. The show’s appraiser will conduct appraisals on Friday, 10 a.m.– 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m.– 3 p.m. No firearms, please. A church-sponsored silent auction and bake sale will also be featured. Food and beverages will be on sale in our new Fellowship Hall throughout the event. Midweek Lenten Workshop
Grace Lutheran Church will gather Wednesday evenings, March 1 through April 5. This year, our Lenten focus will be "The Truth about Forgiveness." You will hear Pastor Steve Heilmann speak about the Biblical idea of forgiveness.
