The Coal City Public Library District is partnering with St. Juvin Post 1336 VFW to honor Mary Ann Kilbride with a plaque in her memory for her service to veterans as a member of The Honor Squad at The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
This plaque will hang in the reference department of the library.
The VFW will present awards to members of The Honor Squad who are volunteers from Coal City’s Library District.
Mary Ann’s family will also be presented with books donated to the library in her name by her many friends in the library’s book clubs.
Christopher Hill, a representative from Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, will give a presentation about the cemetery and answer questions.
The event will be at 10:30 a.m. March 21 at the Coal City Public Library.
Area students among those on Quincy University dean’s list
Quincy University released its Dean’s List for the Fall 2016 semester. Honorees must earn a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) to be included in the biannual Dean’s List. In total, 353 students received the honor during the fall 2016 semester.
