Office is closing, but we are very much still here

Each week in the newspaper, and every day on our website, our goal is to bring you the most local news possible.

It’s the core of what we do here, and my biased opinion is that Heidi Litchfield and Rob Oesterle do a tremendous job making that happen.

That’s why, when changes have to be made, we try to make those changes have the least possible effect on the amount of local news we bring you.

On April 21, our office in Morris will be closing.

After that, we are beginning a partnership with the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Although it remains best to do business such as subscription payments through our customer service representatives, who can be reached at 800-397-9397, we also will have a kiosk available at the Chamber, starting April 24, where those items can be securely dropped off.

Our staff will be working with the Chamber, and many times working in the office at 909 Liberty St. in Morris, going forward. But our main office for business will be a 2175 Oneida St. in Joliet, where some of the Morris staff will be moving.

Heidi and Rob, however, will remain mobile reporters in the community, the same as they have been for several years.

If you are looking to reach us for a story or pass along a press release or event listing, the best way to send that information will continue to be sending us information in plain text to news@morrisherald-news.com. You also can call my office at 815-280-4119.

The more usable format you send that information to us in, the less time we have to spend typing those items and the more time we can spend working on writing about news that affects you and the community.

If you need to send a notice via fax, that number will be changing to 815-729-2019.

What’s important for the community to know is that, although our office in Morris is closing, we are not leaving the community.

Our presence remains there, our reporters remain there, and we will continue to cover the community with the same pride and journalistic vigor as we have always had.
