Braidwood woman arrested for heroin deal after DEA tip, police say

BRAIDWOOD — Two women were arrested and one charged with a Class X Felony after Braidwood police witnessed what appeared to be a narcotics transaction Wednesday in Braidwood, police said.

Cortnee J. Anderson, 40, of the 100 block of Main Street in Braidwood, was arrested on charges of delivering and possessing a controlled substance, reportedly heroin, Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Braidwood Police Department. The police department received information from the Drug Enforcement Agency that a narcotics transaction would take place around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on First Street near the Braidwood Park in Braidwood.

At 4:30 p.m., police witnessed what appeared to be a transaction and later conducted a traffic stop at West Third Street and North Walker Street in Braidwood on a 1999 Buick LeSabre, which had been seen nearby the previous deal. During the stop, police recovered roughly 1.5 grams of reported heroin. Anderson was initially arrested with another woman, but the other was released without charges, police said.

Anderson has been transported to Will County jail and is awaiting a bond hearing.
